Indigo Vibes

In 6th grade art class, Artist Rebecca Saylor visited to share her expertise in natural dyes with the 6th graders. She guided us through the process of making the beautiful indigo blue color and helped everyone dye their own bandanas. Students learned the difference between a pigment and a dye, and observed the science of oxidation as their fabric transformed from green to deep blue. It was a fun, hands-on experience that demonstrated how art and science intersect and how colors originate directly from plants and nature.
