“It’s a Wild Ride!” is an 8th-grade roller coaster project focusing on the physics of energy and energy transformations and how they are used in everyday life. To fully understand roller coasters, students also learn about centripetal force and g-forces, which play a big role in the design of loop de loops and corkscrews. This year's 8th-grade class did a great job with designs and showed a lot of patience as the trial-and-error challenges of engineering persisted at times. Finally, we shared our finished projects with the Kindergarten/1st Grade buddies and talked with them about energy (“the stuff that makes things move”) – it turns out our younger buddies are experts! What a fun and energetic morning of learning – be sure to check out the photos of our time together!
At Brandeis Marin, students are immersed in a project-based curriculum enriched by a dynamic arts and design program that fosters creativity, exploration, and collaboration. Learn more at a family workshop – sign up today!
