This year's Purim extravaganza was EVERYTHING we could have hoped for and so much more! It had everything...a very dark and silly Purim Spiel (ala Wednesday Addams) performed by members of the middle school drama elective class, an incredible kid-directed carnival born entirely of design-thinking projects built by students of every age, beautiful mishloach manot gifts shared among the students, an excellent service project led by the Parent Association, and of course, lots of fun!
Since launching our Maker's Makom Design Lab in 2015, Brandeis Marin has completely re-imagined Purim by bringing project-based learning and design thinking to our favorite holiday. Before the days of our Maker's Lab, our Purim carnival consisted of tired rental carnival games. Now, every student, from K to 8, spends weeks planning, designing, collaborating, and building fantastically detailed and fun games. The students' pride and joy in sharing their creations with parents and fellow students was evident at every station. Todah rabah!
