8th Grade Documentary Wins at National History Day

Brandeis Marin to Represent at State Competition!

National History Day (NHD) is a national competition where students make a presentation on a theme. This year's theme was Communication in History. The Brandeis Marin team, (8th graders Jake Horowitz, Caden Bernstein-Lawler, Sam Crane, and myself), researched the Navajo Code Talkers (a group of Native Americans who helped us win WWII), and created a short documentary. We had the great opportunity to interview and meet one of the last living Navajo Code Talkers, Peter MacDonald. Through hard work and help from Peter MacDonald and Mr. Friedman, we won the competition on the local level and will go on to the state competition! Thank you for all the support given to us by the Brandeis Marin community, with special gratitude to Mr. Friedman for supervising our project.
