Ezra Rosen Graduation Speech

Ezra Rosen – Graduation Address – June 9, 2021

Hello. As you may or may not know, my name is Ezra Rosen. I (I can’t say..)am not going to say that Brandeis is the best school ever and that the teachers are the best teachers ever because Brandeis is all I know. I have been with this community from the very beginning of my education since I was 5 years old.

The connections I have made at Brandeis are the most real and powerful connections I have ever known. I have stayed best of friends with people dating back to my preschool years here at the JCC, all thanks to Brandeis. These relationships, I know, will last a lifetime.

I have met some of the craziest, most insane people and gone on the craziest, and most insane adventures with them.

Now that we are moving on to high school, we will forge new memories with new people, and I'm looking forward to that but at the same time dreading leaving my home not so far away from home.

Throughout my time here, I have written literary essays for Ms. Daniels, I have learned how to chunk text with Mr. E, and I have nearly hit a first grader with a rocket with Mr. Seymore. I have traveled to ancient times with Mr. Friedman and have learned  Math from Ms.Freeman and Aviv,  do I remember how to do the math? Maybe, maybe not, but I’ve done it and that’s what counts. And most importantly, certainly, from my point of view, I have learned how to have the best time of my life with the best people in my life, my friends. From making some questionable decisions in Hawaii to making some more questionable things here in Marin, the common thread has been, my friends were with me through it all.

I can't forget the reason I'm here today, my mom. She is by far the most important person in my life. If it weren't for you mom, I honestly could not even comprehend where I would be, I can't imagine my life without you. You have been there through everything and you have shaped who I am.

As an honorable mention, I would like to thank someone who is no longer at Brandeis, Mr.Scott. He inspired my entire music career, from waking up way too early in the morning for band practice, to performing concerts on stages. If it weren’t for him I may have never picked up the drum sticks, or the trumpet, guitar, ukulele, and all the others that he introduced to us. Thank you, Mr. Scott.

With the support and knowledge gained from being at Brandeis, I hope to pursue a life of doing what makes me happy with the people who make me happy. This journey has had its ups and downs, and twists and turns but it has helped shape the person I am today.

So! To finish it off, I found the cheesiest quote I could find, and with that, may I say “Our journey has not ended but just begun.” Thank you.
