14 MAY 2020
Today at Tefillah, we enjoyed a story about Lag Ba'omer - a minor holiday that occurs on the 33rd day of the Omer, the 49-day period between Passover and Shavuot.
Lag Ba'omer was this Tuesday, May, 12. In Israel, it is celebrated with fun activities such as playing with bows and arrows in open fields, collecting and hauling twigs, fallen branches, and old wooden furniture to build hundreds of bonfires that can be seen all over Israel through the night. The bonfires are circled by groups of people who are dancing, singing, telling stories, and roasting food on the campfire. This year, students built symbolic bonfires for Lag Ba'omer - using yummy edible materials.
