Student Support
The Student Support Team
Student support is provided by a team of specialists that together comprise the Student Support Team or SST. They are an integral part of the educational program and work together with families and school staff to meet students’ individual needs. Student support services include counseling, behavior support and learning support.
The school counselor offers on-campus support and programs that enhance the overall health and wellness of our students and families with a focus on social and emotional learning. The counselor provides guidance, coaching, and access to outside resources and a wide range of wellness resources to students, teachers, and families at Brandeis Marin.
The school counselor supports the social, emotional, and academic development of our students by:
- Observing students to assess their mental and social-emotional health and wellbeing.
- Meeting with students individually or in small groups.
- Supporting the implementation of the school’s social emotional curriculum. Providing and coordinating parent education related to counseling/SEL.

Learning Support
The school’s learning support specialists work with students, parents and staff to provide appropriate education for children identified as having specific learning differences. Teachers and parents can refer a student whom they believe may have special academic needs to one of our learning specialists.
When a child is identified as having learning differences, the learning specialist:
- Works with parents and teachers to develop individual support plans, which include recommendations and accommodations related to the child’s diagnosis and needs.
- Serves as a liaison with outside specialists.
- Works with the child in and out of the classroom context.
- Arranges accommodations on standardized tests, as needed.
