Maker's Design Lab

In the Design Lab, students engage in hands-on creative problem-solving as they learn to use hand tools, power tools, and specialized machinery. Projects range from imaginative cardboard-and-duct-tape arcade games to advanced builds like prop fabrication, often integrated with learning from science, math, and Jewish Studies. Student-driven side projects further encourage curiosity, creativity, and individualized growth.

Everyone can design, and everyone can contribute creatively to a meaningful design class experience!

All students engage creatively through these core values:

Responsibility:

personal use of tools, materials, and deadlines

Respect:

allowing the creative process to evolve ideas into prototypes

Collaboration:

creating with partners and working in groups

Resourcefulness:

inventing to the best of individual ability

5th Grade Action Figures

As 5th grade learned about character traits in Language Arts, we embarked on a design project inspired by comic books! First, students reflected on their own character traits as their 'everyday' selves, then chose traits that embody their 'superpowers' to create superhero identities for themselves
