Meyer's Speech
Meyer Solomon - Graduation Address - June 10, 2020
I remember as an elementary school kid all the teachers telling us that our school was one big family. Since I was a naive elementary kid I took it literally and thought it was the craziest thing I ever heard.
Now that I am graduating 8th grade I realize that when they said that Brandeis is one big family they didn’t mean literally but figuratively. Like families, we fight with each other but also like families we makeup.
Like families, we learn from each other. Not only from the teachers but also from the kids. I have learned so much from my classmates and I can not thank them enough for that. I learned Math from Ari and Mia, English, and Science from Charlie, Tik Tok from Daryan, and much more from the rest of them.
Furthermore, like families, we help each other. I have always supported us at Brandeis Marin. When one of us is sad we comfort each other and try to make them feel better. We fool around and always make each other smile.
Finally, like families, we make memories together. I have made countless memories here. With friends and teachers. I have made memories that will last for the rest of my life. One memory I'm gonna talk about is the middle school overnight. I remember being with all the boys talking until the teacher yelled at us to be quiet. I remember Mr. Seymour bringing his telescope so everyone could see the planets and stars. I remember doing a really cool ropes course. I remember doing all sorts of fun activities.
As I’m here today before all my parents, teachers, classmates, and all their families I can finally say that Brandeis Marin, my school, is my family.
Thank you, Brandeis Marin, I will miss you.
